INTERMEDIATE: Most suitable for practicing Buddhists and non-Buddhists already familiar with foundational Buddhist concepts; no registration is required
WHEN: Saturday, June 17th, 2017, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM; please check Calendar to confirm
TEACHER: Dr. Lorne Ladner, Ph.D.
This class will serve as a general orientation to this profound text for local students who are registered to attend Khensur Rinpoche's 10 days of teachings on Chandrakirti's text and is also open to other students who won't be attending but have a sincere interest in Buddhist philosophy and practice. The class will present an overview of the subject matter of this profound text which centers around compassion, subtle points about the view of emptiness, and the 10 levels (or bhumis in Sanskrit) that bodhisattvas traverse on their journey to buddhahood itself. We will cover some key terms and concepts that may help to prepare one for a deeper study of Chandrakirti's text.
This preparatory class is recommended for anyone thinking about attending Khensur Rinpoche's teaching in June/July. Previous teachings — including previous prep sessions — can be viewed on our YouTube channel by clicking here.
