Paula Chichester: The Power of Retreat

INTRODUCTORY: Most suitable for practicing Buddhists and non-Buddhists already familiar with foundational Buddhist concepts; no registration required

WHEN: Schedule below; please check Calendar to confirm

November 2th, 2018; 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

From 7 to 8 PM, Paula will share some reflections and experiences regarding what it's like (and what the benefits and challenges are) doing long meditation retreats. Paula has spent many years doing retreats in solitary places around the world. There will also be some time for questions.

Then for those who wish to stay after the teaching, from 8 to 9 PM, we'll do the Lama Chopa (Guru Puja) with Tsog offering ritual. This practice, composed by the First Panchen Lama, Losang Chokyi Gyaltsen is the most important guru yoga practice of the Gelugpa tradition and contains all the essential points of the path of sutra and tantra.

November 3th, 4th, 2018; 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM - Break for lunch, then resume class from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Cultivating Inner Harmony

Harmony within ourself is a state of well being and peace. From that state, comes wisdom and inner satisfaction that is not dependent on outer influences and situations. This then, promotes harmony in our relationships.

We experience inner Harmony when we rest in "the flow", when doing becomes being, and being becomes love. From there, we can listen to and empathize with others, share our truth without judgment. This leads to understanding and reciprocal communication. From there, we can work to make a better world for the future.

This will be weekend of meditations, physical exercises and discussions based on Ancient Indian Wisdom taught by Buddha that will gently guide us to relax into our pure nature — the peaceful and inspirational core of our being, where emotional afflictions simply arise and dissolve into the ocean of an open body and mind. This Buddhist holistic method is also designed to liberate our self-centered "setting sun" attitudes, which then allow us the skillful means to benefit our lives and our society.

Paula

Paula Chichester is extremely grateful to have gotten to study under many of the great Tibetan Lamas of our time and to have Lama Thubten Yeshe and Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche as her personal guides on the path to enlightenment. After spending the last 36 years in full time pursuit of Dharma realizations through study and extended retreats, she is happy to share with others the insights and experiences that make life and meditation full of joy, love, peace, authenticity, spontaneity and meaning. From California, she loves to sing, to dance, and walk in nature.
