The Members' Library consists of 3 sections: books, practice materials, and multimedia materials. New items are constantly being added due to generous donations. In addition, Jodi maintains the center's Bookstore, also located in our meditation hall. Our bookstore includes new and used books, bracelets, malas, bags, altar cloths, and more (members receive a discount!). There's also a great selection of freebies, including introductory Dharma books.
Most recently, Jodi was a Library Clerk for Fairfax County Public Schools. Prior to that she was able to spend some years raising her children and prior to that was a software developer.
Jodi's family attended a variety of Christian churches before trying Transcendental Meditation which she says they found very beneficial. After college, Jodi discovered Buddhism and realized it was what she had been searching for all along. Jodi said, "The teachings are clear and accurate. There is never just a proclamation of how we should act, but rather practical step-by-step instructions on how we can teach ourselves to act differently." Jodi also said, "Seeing the kindness of Dharma practitioners such as our center's teachers and members enforces my own desire to study and practice."
