We at The Guhyasamaja Center want to express our gratitude to all of you. To all of you who have volunteered time, attended classes, donated, checked out our online teachings, our center exists for and because of you. It is our heartfelt wish that the center has contributed to making this world we share a kinder, more compassionate place in which it’s also a bit easier to find peace and wisdom.
In 2015, the center ran at a nearly $9,000 deficit, putting its long-term existence in jeopardy. So, in 2016, we made some increased efforts at fundraising and also cut back on some of our expenses. So, it appears as though we are on track to roughly break even for the year. (Specific details will, of course, follow early in 2017.)
However, that cutting back on expenses has led us to sometimes not inviting visiting teachers when we otherwise would have, to hold slightly fewer events, and to decrease our contributions to FPMT and its Sangha. We’ve also not made any extra payments to the center’s mortgage principal this year in order to avoid running at a deficit.
So, we’re reaching out to our community to say that if you feel moved by our mission to provide the Dharma and a place for spiritual practice near our nation’s capital, then this is an excellent time to express that through the practice of generosity! We invite you to help us in continuing to offer a Dharma community here by donating to the center. The Guhyasamaja Center is registered as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
